CEO and Managing Partner – Don joined BDS in 2014 to enhance the organization’s core competencies in strategic planning, operations, capital connections and financial restructuring. Additionally, he brings to BDS significant expertise working with mid-cap to large enterprises, and a strong network of working relationships within the aerospace, energy, engineered materials and manufacturing and distribution sectors. He has been very active in global growth and international expansion and has worked with many regional companies to develop international growth strategies, business partnerships, and solutions to trade and export issues. He has also been active in the tech sector, working with startups and growth companies to develop commercialization plans and build relationships with funders, universities and government labs. He has been a successful management consultant with a market leading global management consulting firm, where he worked with clients on initiatives including strategy, organization, and growth. He enjoys an outstanding reputation of working successfully with business owners and senior-level executives of major corporations to realize significant improvements in operating results and top-line revenue growth.
Don’s career spans more than a dozen years with BP where he had both domestic and international responsibilities, several years as an engagement manager with McKinsey & Company, and senior executive roles with Applied Industrial, The Lubrizol Corporation and, most recently, the Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI). At OAI, Don was Vice President, Technology and Innovation Partnerships, where he built their technology and industry partnership group from the ground up, introducing hundreds of companies into the aerospace supply chain and positioning them for new growth opportunities. Don’s accomplishments there resulted in his being named in 2013 as an Ohio Commodore by Gov. Kasich in recognition of his accomplishments in economic development for the State of Ohio.
Don is a native of Cleveland, Ohio, a graduate of Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management with an MBA, and received his undergraduate degree from Muskingum College with a BS in Chemistry and Political Science. Don has been active in numerous professional and industry organizations, including the Association for Corporate Growth, Aerospace Industries Association (AIA) Supplier Management Council, the International Business Executives Network, and as a security clearance-level trade advisor to the US Trade Representative and the Secretary of the Department of Commerce for the Aerospace Equipment Industry Trade Advisory Committee.
